October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month and as AI unfortunately enables people to create more sophisticated and wide-reaching scams, it’s not just older folks who are at risk.
A new survey of over 1,000 Americans found that a shocking 51% have been victims of identity theft.
Findings include:
54% of identity theft victims lost money due to their identity being stolen (avg. $2,800+)
95% of Americans are concerned about criminals using AI to steal personal information
56% have personally experienced an AI-generated scam
Despite 79% of Americans being informed that their personal information was exposed during a data breach, 23% did not take actions to protect themselves.
